The Kettle Shed Tea vs Bog standard Supermarket tea.

As we said in our last blog about ‘The Difference between our Fuso tea bags & loose leaf tea’ we are going to go in to detail about our fuso tea bags and the difference between ‘bog standard supermarket tea bags’

We hope this blog really highlights the point of buying tea online from us, the health benefits, how it is environmentally friends, cost effective and an all-round better choice!

Let’s start with supermarket tea. The loose tea in a generic supermarket brand tea bag is generally smaller or broken leaves and in very cheap tea bags that is practically a powder. This leads to loose tea leaves becoming broken or crushed, when this happens the essential oils in the leaf, which give the flavour to tea, are destroyed. Which generally means a tasteless average cup of tea.

Our mesh infusers are the perfect size to let your

whole-leaf tea expand, releasing those delicious flavours,  which means a better rounded tea

Our fuso bags also help the environment as they are biodegradable so don’t swamp waste fills like our lower quality friends at the supermarket do.

The good points of buying tea online from us:

– Fuller tea leaves rather than powder, so you get more for your money in each tea bag.

– A mesh triangular fuso tea bag means more room for the leaves to

expand for a better, stronger tasting tea.

– Bio degradable fuso bag means great for the environment.

– Each box of our fuso bags bought equals a  cup of tea donated to UK homeless charities.

We hope this has highlighted the major benefits of buying tea from us, have a look at our full range here at www.thekettleshed.com or follow us on social media.

GT 15 2-star

Judged by over 400 of the most demanding palates belonging to food critics, chefs, cooks, restaurateurs, producers and a host of food writers and journalists, Great Taste is widely acknowledged as the most respected food accreditation scheme for artisan and speciality food producers.  When a product wears a Great Taste label it carries a badge of honour but more importantly, the Great Taste logo is a signpost to a wonderful tasting product – hundreds of judges have worked tirelessly to discover the very best, through hours and hours of blind-tasting a total of 10,000 different foods and drinks.

The Judges.

Were ecstatic to know that our Bang on Breakfast has been awarded the coveted Great Taste award! We entered this year because we know the pedigree of the judges, if they liked our tea and awarded us well it put’s us in good stead to know our tea is a great tasty addition to any hotel, cafe or deli!  This is what they said about our blend: “An interesting blend. Clean, bright liquor alive and with good, distinct flavours.”  On the 18th August we will be hosting a Great Taste tasting event at Detour cafe (135 Askew Rd, London W12 9AU) to showcase our tea to all between 12pm-6pm!

Recognised as a stamp of excellence among consumers and retailers alike, Great Taste values taste above all else, with branding and packaging ignored. Whether it is cheese, ale, steak or chutney being judged, all products are removed from their wrapper, jar or bottle before being tasted. The judges then savour, confer and re-taste to decide which products are worthy of a 1-, 2- or 3-star award.

Welcome to The Shed Mill Bakery Acton!

Another welcome to The Kettle Shed family…. The Mill Bakery in Acton is a hidden away gem that we came across on a quick stop off in Poets corner in Acton. We had the best salty beef sandwich this side of London and their already amazing coffee range has now been added to with The Kettle Shed Tea!

22879082

The bakery is situated on 67 Churchfield Road London W3 6AX is petite with outside seating as well as an upstairs and a downstairs, the cafe is cool and chic to say the least with it’s bare brick walls and modern photo frames, however it has a warm atmosphere and you get greeted by Zivana and her sister who run the family Eatery  As you walk in you get a whiff of freshly made sandwiches,  as you get closer to the counter you see a rainbow of colours of the different ingredients that go into their fresh healthy sandwiches.

o

The bakery is now expanding as Zivana has grown so quickly this year has now purchased the shop next door meaning even more food and it excites us to know that our tea is going to be at the forefront of what they are doing.

Make sure you pop in for a cup of tea & a cake next week!

How to make iced tea The Kettle Shed way!

As summer is now in full flow we thought it was only right to do a post on Iced Tea!

Iced tea is the perfect combo for health and hydration, unlike a lot of high street iced teas that are really high in sugar and calories and don’t contain a lot of high quality tea.

Whereas our fuso tea bags are low in sugar, have full leaf, full herb and full fruit (depending on what type of tea you use) so not only do you get a full taste you else get loads of antioxidants and major health benefits In each cup.

Our step by step Kettle Shed guide will show you how to make a jug of iced tea for 3-5 people:

Image (1)

  • Put 3-5 Kettle Shed tea bags into a jug.
  •  Drown with boiling water.
  •  Leave to brew for 3-5 minutes.
  •  Now fill up with cold water and crushed ice.
  •  Add to the taste with sugar, honey or syrup.

If you would like to add to the taste and also make them look pretty if you have guests round, you can cut up pieces of fruit and add them in.

Another great way of making iced tea is to fill half a glass with crushed ice, then fill the other half with your chilled tea infusion. Then top up with something cool and bubbly – we love soda water, or for the adults reading this, a sparkling white wine would make a nice treat for a sophisticated get together!

Any of our fruit based teas our good to drink iced such as:

Majestic Melon – Melon & Cherry. – Pick Me Up – Liquorice and Mints. – Tutti Frutti – Fruit and coconut. – Fruit Burst – Summer Fruits. – Cheeky Charlie – Apple and Lime.

We want to see how you get on with our step by step guide and we want too see the finished product! Post your pics of your teas and we will pick an image at random to go onto our Instagram page and you will also win a free box of tea!

WE ARE CURRENTLY OFFERING FREE POSTAGE ON ALL FO OUR TEA SO GRAB YOURS QUICK FROM OUR WEBSITE TO MAKE YOUR ICED TEA!!!

We are please to announce that our tea just got a little bit Ugli…  yes Ugli and not Ugly :)

Our tea is now stocked at Ugli Cafe that is situated on Ugli Campus, 56 Wood Lane, London W12 7SB which is just across from the old BBC Studios.

The cafe is in the heart of Ugli Campus that is a creative space for business to get use of resources they may not have the chance or funds to use anywhere else, it’s philosophy is collaboration and smart use of resources for the future of successful businesses. The cafe is in the heart of that where a vast range of different business can go down and have there lunch or just for a tea break and is social place for them all to go.

FullSizeRender (6)The cafe was recently bought out by Alan and he has already to started to make some big changes, it is already a massive hit in the campus and for people around the area to pop in. Alan was in hospitality for 15 years but always had a dream of setting up his own cafe, his philosophy is to do everything that the corporate chain cafes aren’t doing, he wants all his produce locally and ethically sourced and everything he buys is from independent traders.

We’re so pleased that we have been given the chance to be able to showcase our tea in such an inspiring and diverse setting. Remember we really do GIVE A CUP!

Kelly the owner is a New Zealander by Birth but now calls London her home having been here
for 16 years. She is a chartered accountant by trade and has worked for many dynamic companies, such as KPMG, BBC, Siemens, a French company called Thales and Lloyds, she has always had a passion for tea, coffee and food for some time and had the itch to create the feel of a New Zealand cafe in London.  In 2014 she took the big step, left her accounting career and set up Detour.
She has a really positive outlook, loves being in the company of others and loves sport (plays Netball, Squash and Tennis as often as possible) and will watch almost anything.  She has lived in the Ealing and Chiswick area for about 9 years and live with her English partner, Andrew (a lawyer).
She wanted to create a cafe that not only creates great coffee, tea and food but has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere that locals love and new customers want to come back to. The name Detour is a bit of a play on with her last name which is “de lautour”.  It is also her
Dad’s and my brother’s nickname and of course you will always take a Detour to visit your favourite places so it works well for a cafe too!
If you are in the are or fancy a mid shop carrot cake & rooibos tea then
it is definitely a cafe you need to check out!
