Nobbys Farm shop stock our tea!
We are very pleased to introduce Nobbys Farm Shop our new stockist of The Kettle Shed tea! The farm shop of Matt and Nicci Ward is situated on the main road towards Hemel Hempstead. Nicci Ward began selling eggs from rescued chickens in the local pub before Nobbys opened. Being so pleased by her work, more and more customers convinced her to start her own business, who now wonderfully stock our tea!
The Nobbys Story
The couple decided to convert one of their neglected barns into a shop using ‘permitted development rights’, which allows agricultural buildings to be used for commercial purposes. Within a week of e-mailing the application to the council, the Wards got their necessary permits to open their very own farm shop.
Nobbys is the only shop for three villages, thats’s why they stock basics like milk, tea, coffee and sugar. They make sure that everything they sell is as locally produced as possible. For example; The burgers and sausages they sell are from a befriended butcher. All meat is produced on-site from the animals on the land out the back of the butchery. The shop also try to help other local businesses in various ways. For example; for the meat they charge the same price as the butcher does. According to the couple this honest way of doing business has a positive effect on everyone in the community. People started visiting more often and made bigger orders which allowed the couple to invest in some new projects around the farm like an extension of the store and a tearoom.
