Kelly the owner is a New Zealander by Birth but now calls London her home having been here
for 16 years. She is a chartered accountant by trade and has worked for many dynamic companies, such as KPMG, BBC, Siemens, a French company called Thales and Lloyds, she has always had a passion for tea, coffee and food for some time and had the itch to create the feel of a New Zealand cafe in London.  In 2014 she took the big step, left her accounting career and set up Detour.
She has a really positive outlook, loves being in the company of others and loves sport (plays Netball, Squash and Tennis as often as possible) and will watch almost anything.  She has lived in the Ealing and Chiswick area for about 9 years and live with her English partner, Andrew (a lawyer).
She wanted to create a cafe that not only creates great coffee, tea and food but has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere that locals love and new customers want to come back to. The name Detour is a bit of a play on with her last name which is “de lautour”.  It is also her
Dad’s and my brother’s nickname and of course you will always take a Detour to visit your favourite places so it works well for a cafe too!
If you are in the are or fancy a mid shop carrot cake & rooibos tea then
it is definitely a cafe you need to check out!
